• This page contains maps of CQ Zones, as
defined for use in Ham Radio contests or award-hunting.

These CQ Zone maps are suitable for the 'CQ WW' series of Amateur Radio Worldwide Contests, and other zone-hunting awards and competitions. They show CQ Zones over a background of Ham Countries. You are welcome to use them on your own NON-COMMERCIAL website, if you include a link to this site, and DO NOT edit them in any way. Please Contact Me for other uses, sizes, styles, formats, or projections.

If you don't live in London, Valencia, or Accra, and you would prefer world maps that are not always centered on the Greenwich Meridian at 0° longitude, then the latest version of the Global Overlay Mapper is for you. It produces seamless multi-overlay maps that are centered on any longitude. Here are two screenshots made from one of the twenty-three zoomable background maps, showing CQ Zones:

If you use my maps, please buy me a coffee.
How much did you spend on your rigs and antennas? Buying me a coffee isn't much in comparison, is it?! Do I get many donations? Well, in 2022 during the CQWW contest-period these maps were downloaded over 12,000 times, and I received 2 donations.

Some Background to the CQ Zone Maps:
These maps show the zone-boundaries for the 'CQ WW' series of competitions. The 'CQ WW' are the largest Amateur Radio competitions in the world. Over 35,000 participants take to the airwaves on the last weekend of September (RTTY), October (SSB) and November (CW) with the goal of making as many contacts with as many different DXCC entities and CQ Zones as possible. There are many special stations and rare countries activated just for the contest, so taking part is an ideal way to work some rare entities and increase your country totals. Any licensed amateur can take part - just read the rules beforehand. Do submit your log, even if you only make 1 QSO !

You can see the rules, latest results, searchable score database, and much more at the CQ World Wide DX Contest website.

CQ Zone Map Definitions:
As you might expect, the CQ zone-definitions originate from the CQ magazine, and the official list can be seen on the CQ Amateur Radio WAZ Zone/Country/Entities List web-page. That list was last updated and correct as of April 1, 2018.

Despite that list, there is some confusion online as to which parts of China are in which CQ Zone. To answer that, you might find this map useful: it was generated by the Global Overlay Mapper program.
