Data Bar

The 'Data Bar' tab-page controls what is shown in the 'Data Bar': that section of the main program window that is below the map. The height of the 'Data Bar' can be set to 5 arbitrary values by using the 'Data Bar Height' control. Choosing '0' will hide the 'Data Bar'.

You can choose your preferred Font family for the text in the 'Data Bar' by pressing the 'Data Bar Font-Family' button. The size of the font-characters is calculated from the current 'Data Bar' height.

The 'Data Bar' can be divided into 1-5 sections, using the 'Number of Data Bar Sections' control. The contents of each of those sections, and the associated settings, is then set in the relevant panel: 'Data Bar Section 1' - 'Data Bar Section 5'.

Section Contents

There are 11 different types of section contents available:

a/ 'Callsign over Location' - Shows the name or callsign that you entered in the 'User' tab-page, over the latitude/longitude position, which is then converted to a 6-character Maidenhead Grid Locator.

b/ 'Callsign over Date' - Shows the name or callsign that you entered in the 'User' tab-page, over the current date for that location.

c/ 'Clock over TimeZone' - Shows a clock, set in the selected format, who's time-value corresponds to the selected Time Zone, which is shown below the time.

d/ 'Clock over Date' - Shows a clock, set in the selected format, who's time-value corresponds to the selected Time Zone, with the current date for that location shown below the time.

e/ 'Clock over SunRiseSet' - Shows a clock, set in the selected format, who's time-value corresponds to the selected Time Zone, with the sunrise and sunset times for that location shown below the time.

f/ 'Clock over City Data' - Shows a clock above a cycling set of data corresponding to the selected city. The clock is set in the selected format, who's time-value corresponds to the Time Zone for the City selected from a list of over 6000 cities. When 'Clock over City Data' is selected in the 'Data Bar' tabpage, two extra controls are shown: 'Country' and 'City'. The Time Zone is set automatically from the selected city. The line below the clock shows City Name, Country Name; Latitude, Longitude; Bearing, Distance; Sunrise, Sunset; Time Zone Name; and Weather Forecasts for the next 5 days, when available.

g/ 'Logger Feed' - Shows the details for the latest QSO received via the Logger Feed: Callsign, Band, and Mode, above the latitude/longitude position, which is then converted to a 4-character Maidenhead Grid Locator.

h/ 'Satellite Data' - Shows the pass details for the current satellite: if the shortcut 'SA' has been typed, then the current satellite will rotate between all the available satellites, to a maximum of 8. You can also select a specific satellite by typing 'S1' - 'S8' (where satellite is available). You will then see the current Satellite Azimuth and Elevation as applies to the User Location, with satellite name, and range in the Distance Units chosen on the 'User' tab-page.

i/ 'Countdown Timer' - Shows the status of the Countdown Timer, that you can use to signal the ending of a specified time-period. Right-click the Countdown Timer to set, start, pause, or stop it. There is only one Countdown Timer, so showing it in more than one Data Bar section will just show the same thing. When the Countdown Timer reaches zero it will stop, and show a Program Alert: this may be a sound, or a Message Box, as selected in the 'Program Alerts for Calendar and Countdown Timer Events' section of the 'User' tab-page.

The Countdown Timer will pause whilst the Layers Menu, Map Menu, or Settings Menu is showing. Note: the Countdown Timer starts with a time-period, not a time-value. To have an event that occurs at a specific time, see the 'Calendar' and add an 'Alarm Event'.

j/ 'Stopwatch' - Shows the status of the Stopwatch, that you can use to time events, or anything else of interest. Right-click the Stopwatch to start, stop, resume, reset, or note the lap-time.There is only one Stopwatch, so showing it in more than one Data Bar section will just show the same thing. The Stopwatch will pause whilst the Layers Menu, Map Menu, or Settings Menu is showing.

k/ 'Blank' - Shows an empty section.

Note: If you have a clock showing in any of the Data Bar sections, you can easily set its Time Zone by right-clicking a location on the map and choosing 'Set DataBar Clock?? to this TimeZone'. If you want 'UTC', this has to be done via the Settings Menu. This does not apply to 'Clock over City Data', where the Time Zone is derived from the selected city.
