Search

The 'Search' tab-page provides a range of methods to search for Counties within the internal database.

You can search for County Names, County Codes, or County FIPS values, using the full text, or a part-segment of it. Search options are set in the 'Search Options' panel.

The Search-Phrase must be at least 3 characters in length. The Result-Count is shown on the Status Bar. Any positive Results are returned in the 'Tables' tab-page.

Right-click a line in the 'Tables' tab-page for further actions, including map-plotting. Click the column headers to sort the rows.

The lower-panel provides the facility to simultaneously center the Vector Map and the Online Map at a specified position. To do this, enter your desired position in the 'Latitude' and 'Longitude' boxes, and then click the 'Center the Maps' button. Use decimal values for both boxes. The 'Latitude' box will accept values between 8.00 and 72.00 degrees. The 'Longitude' box will accept values between -165.00 and -65.00 degrees. Note that, as per international standards, we use negative values to indicate the Western hemisphere.

You can also center the Vector Map at any time by clicking on it. This position will be detailed in the right-hand status bar, at the bottom of the program window. If you click on a valid US land-region, the name of the county and state at that position will also be shown.
