News Ticker
The News Ticker is a small pop-up strip that will appear above the Data Bar when it has some messages that it wishes to share with you. The News Ticker is positioned over the southern latitudes of Antarctica and will thus hide any details there, but as it is never showing for very long, does not show more than three messages at a time, and does not appear more frequently than every two minutes at the most, this shouldn't cause a problem.
The type of messages that the News Ticker shows include status messages when it has got new data from the internet, any routines that it is having problems with, active Calendar Events, and a welcome message at program-startup that will alert you to any licensing issues.
