World Map
The World Map combines Raster images (those that are pre-drawn and then resized to fit the screen) with Vector images (those that are drawn when needed, using data to describe position, color, and size). The map backgrounds are created from raster images. There are 16 different backgrounds available. To change the background image, click the 'Background' control. The map foregrounds are created from vector data. There are 11 different foreground overlays: CQ Zones, ITU Zones, Time Zones, Continents, Regions, Base Lines, Lat/Lon, Grid Loc, Country Borders, Prefixes, Beacons.
In addition, you can add a GrayLine overlay, configured for current or specified date and time, and the Sun position. The GrayLine overlay can be either a solid color of your choosing, or a view of the Earth at night. To change the solid color, click the colored box next to the word 'Color'. A separate color is saved for each of the 16 map backgrounds. To set the transparency of the Terminator, and the width of its leading edge, use the boxes provided. Use the 'Refresh' button to refresh the map after the Terminator settings have been changed.
You can plot markers from a selection of sources: Callbook entries, search results, table browsing, or lists of Lat/Lon, Grid Locator, or Callsigns. You can also plot some polygons on the map, if they are of a suitable size.
The World Map has a right-click Context Menu with a variety of useful commands. You can find out about this in the 'Mapping Right-Click Context Menus' help-page.
