Online Map

The Online Map is very versatile control, with some useful properties. It will only work if you have an internet connection. You can use a variety of Map Providers. Your choice of provider, plus a number of other Online Map options, are set by clicking 'Help > Options > Online Map'.

You can zoom the map in or out using the two small buttons in the top-right of the Online Map window. If your mouse has a Zoom Wheel, you can also use that.

To move the map, simply left-click and drag it, as required. The new center-position will be shown on the Status Bar.

The current position of the mouse-cursor, if the mouse is currently over the map, is shown in the lower-left box of the Status Bar. The values shown are:

1/ Latitude position of the cursor.

2/ Longitude position of the cursor.

3/ Grid Locator position of the cursor.

4/ Distance, in kilometers, from the cursor to your home location, as specified in 'Help > Options > User Details > My Home Details > My Latitude/My Longitude'.

5/ Distance, in statute miles, from the cursor to your home location.

6/ Short-path bearing from your home location to the cursor location.

7/ Long-path bearing from your home location to the cursor location.

From time to time, various State, Section, County, or Grid Locator polygons will be plotted on the map. You can use the various commands in 'Map Features' to 'Hide' them temporarily, or 'Clear' them permanently.

See 'Help > Options > Online Map' to change the polygon colors or transparency values.
