Plot Box

In the upper-right corner of the programme is a text-input box and associated 'Plot' button. This box and button lets you enter a latitude/longitude position within the map bounds, or a VK grid square, or a VK amateur callsign, or a VK postcode, or a VK IOTA group, or a Suburb name. If it can identify it, the entity will be shown on the Online and Overlay maps with the correct type of marker. Grid Squares are plotted as filled-rectangles. Try typing 'Cook' and pressing the adjacent 'Plot' button. There is more than one place named 'Cook' in Australia, so a box will open to let you chose the one that you want. Click 'Cook South Australia' - its a very small town of only 4 people, a stop on the Indian Pacific railway, and is officially 'The Middle of Nowhere' !! You might have to zoom right in on the Online map to see the railway tracks.

The Online map, with its zoom-capabilities, will plot 4-character or 6-character grid-squares. Due to the initial zoom-value, you may have to zoom in before a 6-character grid-square can be seen. There would be no point trying to plot a 6-character grid square on the Overlay map, however, as it does not have any zoom capabilities. Because of this, all 6-character grid-squares are converted to 4-character grid squares before they are plotted on the Overlay map.
