Browse Non-Geocoded Results

As with any other dataset or printed list, the Spectra tables will invariably have a small number of address errors and misspellings: these can be easily spotted and corrected, with probable corrections suggested automatically. The 'Browse Non-Geocoded Results' page is the page where you can make those corrections.

The two columns of interest are 'Suburb' and 'Postcode', as these are the columns that are crossed referenced with the Postcode database to derive the latitude and longitude values. Sometimes there might be a simple spelling mistake, or some difference in how the database lists a suburb. Sometimes a postcode might have been entered incorrectly, or the postcode has been recently changed. To help you determine what the database thinks the correct values might be, some possible values have been provided.

To start, click on the 'Postcode' cell for the relevant line in the 'Browse Non-Geocoded Results' table. The cell will change to a selector-box with a downward pointing arrow on its right side. If there are any other postcodes showing in the list that opens, then these are postcodes that are also associated with the suburb as it is spelt in the 'Suburb' cell. If one of these postcodes seems correct, you can click on it, and the relevant latitude and longitude values will be shown in the adjacent cells for that line.

If there are no postcodes in the dropdown-list, or if you feel certain that the postcode is correct and it is, in fact, the suburb that it in error, then click on the 'Suburb' cell for that line. The suburb-cell will change to a selector-box with a downward pointing arrow on its right side. If there are any other suburbs showing in the list that opens, then these are suburbs that are also associated with the postcode in the 'Postcode' cell. If one of these suburbs seems correct, you can click on it, and the relevant latitude and longitude values will be shown in the adjacent cells for that line.

IMPORTANT: Once you have finished making corrections in this way, it is vital that you then save them!! Unsaved corrections will be abandoned. To save your corrections, click 'Browse Tables > Save Non-Geocoded Corrections'. A small box will tell you that the corrections have been saved, and a table of all the current corrections will then be shown. This is the same list that is shown if you had clicked 'Browse Tables > Browse Non-Geocoded Corrections'. If, subsequently, you decide that a correction was not correct, you can right-click it now, and choose 'Remove Correction'. The correction will then be removed, and the line returned to the 'Non-Geocoded Results' list, where you can change it again, if you wish.
