Grid Locator List Boxes

The 'Plot > Grid Locator List Boxes' menu-subitem allows you to plot a file containing a list of grid-locators on the Online and Overlay maps. The file should contain only one grid-locator per line. Grid locators can be 4-character (i.e. PH57) or 6-character (i.e. PH57jm). After processing, each grid-square will be plotted on the Online and Overlay maps as filled-rectangles. The Online map, with its zoom-capabilities, will plot 4-character or 6-character grid-squares. Due to the initial zoom-value, you may have to zoom in before a 6-character grid-square can be seen. There would be no point trying to plot a 6-character grid square on the Overlay map, however, as it does not have any zoom capabilities. Because of this, all 6-character grid-squares are converted to 4-character grid squares before they are plotted on the Overlay map.

You can change the colours used for the Grid Square bounding box outline and fill by clicking 'Help > Options > Colours > GridLoc Box ...'. Note that the fill-colour is only plotted at 30% opacity, to allow map items under the box to be seen. This means that even though the same colour is chosen for the outline and the fill, the fill-colour will always look lighter.

Grid Locators have their own 'layer' above the Online and Overlay maps, which can be controlled independently of the others. Use the menu-subitems below 'Markers' to temporarily hide or permanently clear the Grid Locator markers and polygons.

You can right-click any plotted grid-square to perform a Spatial Query on it. The query will return all values of the selected table that lie within the boundaries of the grid-square.

The list of grid-locators is also shown in the 'Tables' tab.
