Grid Squares

The Grid Squares page shows a chart of unique 4-character Grid Squares that appear in the Main Log. The collecting of Grid Squares is of great interest to many operators, so the programme provides this easy way to see the squares worked to-date, which bands the squares were worked on, and whether or not they have been confirmed. Whenever a new 4-character Grid Square appears in the Main Log, it is added to this page. The callsign, QSO date, time, and QSL status appear in the column for the band that the square was worked on. The first instance of a QSO with that square is reported, whether or not it is confirmed. This will be replaced by the first instance of a confirmed QSO for that square and band.

Plotting commands for Grid Squares are available, as menu-subitems below the 'Grid Squares' menu button. You can choose to plot All Grid Squares, All Confirmed Grid Squares, All Unconfirmed Grid Squares, or plot Grid Squares for a selected band. When you plot grid squares, these will appear on the Online and Overlay maps as filled-rectangles. Hovering your mouse over the square will show the 4-character grid-square name. On the Overlay map you can also click the 'Grid' button above the map to turn on the Grid overlay, which shows the boundaries and names for each square.

Right-clicking over a grid square on the map will show a context-menu with a number of commands that allow you to perform a Spatial Query on a table: Query Geocoded Calls, Query Corrected Calls, Query Gazetteer, Query Postcodes, Query SOTA Table, Query Shires Table, Query WWFF Table, Query ARLHS Table, Query WLOTA Table. Unlike clicking a marker, which will order the selected table by distance with the position of the marker as the center-point, right-clicking a Grid Square and selecting a Spatial Query will only return those entities who's position is located within the bounds of the grid square. For this reason, a grid square spatial query cannot reference the IOTA or DXCC tables!

Right-clicking a grid square on the Grid Squares table lets you plot a single grid square on the Online and Overlay maps. You can also perform a count of the number of times that a grid square was worked in the Main Log, or was worked on a specific band. The confirmed/unconfirmed count is also shown.

Note that the Grid Squares table and plotting facilities are only available during the Trial Period, and if the programme is subsequently registered with an 'Advanced' licence. You can always upgrade a 'Standard' licence if you wish to enable Main and Auxiliary Log storage and plotting.
