North American Overlay Mapping

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Why does NAOMI have all browser toolbars turned off ?
A: NAOMI is a series of web pages, rather an application, and so uses an Internet browser to display the maps. However, unlike most web pages, all the navigation is handled by custom toolbars, and using the standard 'Back' or 'Forward' buttons would only confuse the various frames. So, the standard toolbars are turned off because they are not needed, and because they take up room that is better used to display maps.
  • Q: Is there anything else I can do to make the maps bigger ?
A: To gain an extra 1cm of screen, you might like to set your Taskbar to either 'Autohide', or clear the 'Always on Top' setting. To do this, click on Start > Settings > Taskbar & Start Menu, and add a tick in the box marked 'Autohide', or remove the tick from the box marked 'Always on Top'.
  • Q: If there are no browser toolbars, how do I Print ?
A: Simply press Ctrl-P on the keyboard. See Here for further details.
  • Q: Can I Refresh the page ?
A: To refresh a page, press Ctrl-R on the keyboard.
  • Q: Can I make a suggestion for the next version ?
A: Yes. Suggestions, comments, and bug-reports are very welcome. See Here for details of how to contact the author.
